In this post we'll cover:

Hello Pinterest lovers! Today we’re going to talk about why you need to have a blog in 2025 to have a solid and sustainable content strategy.

I know you don’t have time to add a new platform to your calendar, but please, take some minutes and read this post.

I made a video joking about what would happen if Instagram disappeared. I said that all your content would disappear. It was a joke, we don’t know if Instagram will disappear, but it’s true that your content could be gone at any time. We can’t build our business on a platform that we don’t own.

We need a Solid and Sustainable Content Strategy.

We need to have a website. And I’m not talking about an amazing website, with the latest design, and perfect content. We can start by creating a regular WordPress template. You can choose any template now, and we can change it later.

The most important thing is to start transferring our Instagram content to our website. There will be time to edit and optimize the content later – because the website is ours. We have access to all the tools to improve it slowly, at our own pace.

What if Instagram disappears tomorrow?

How to create your website and use Pinterest to make your content last longer.

Register your domain

Yes, the time is now. Start by registering your domain. It shouldn’t be too expensive. You can use platforms like GoDaddy or IONOS. I started with GoDaddy and now I’ve moved everything to IONOS. I have hosting, professional emails, everything there.

Find a Hosting you like

This is where all your website files are stored. Because your website is all files, and you’ll choose how to display them. It can be your own hosting service, or you can ask someone to add your website to their hosting.

Install WordPress on your hosting

This will be specific to the service you choose.

Access the WordPress Dashboard

It’s usually yourdomain.com/wp-admin and from there you can manage almost everything related to your website.

Choose a Template for Your Website

There are many free templates and some paid ones. I would start with a simple, free template. Remember that we’ll first be uploading the content and then giving the website its final look.

You may get stuck looking at all the options available, and this step may hinder your progress. Please, try to choose one and continue with the next steps. It’s very easy to change the template later.

Tip: If you have a website you like, you can try to research which template they’re using or find a similar one for your WordPress site.

Install the Basic Plugins

WordPress Plugin to Design Your Website

Elementor will help you design your website without having to know any code.

WordPress Plugin for SEO

An SEO plugin like Yoast SEO or Rank Math

WordPress Plugin for Creating Forms

For example, WP Forms. It’s important to have forms because we want to start collecting emails from our audience so we can create a newsletter or whatever we need to communicate in the future. Let’s not think about this yet; let’s just start collecting data from our followers, which is very valuable.

Create Your WordPress Home Pages

For example, the home page will contain all your posts. You can create an “about me” page where you explain who you are, what you do, your services/products, whatever you see fit. You can always create new pages.

Now let’s share everything from WordPress to Pinterest!

Did you think I was going to forget about my favorite platform? Never.

Why am I recommending another platform we don’t own? The reason is simple: we’re going to upload ONE COPY of our WordPress content to Pinterest.

Our content will live forever on our website, and on Pinterest, we’ll only share a copy of it so we can reach a larger audience organically. We’ll also share it so our followers can find it and save our most-liked posts to their boards!

On Pinterest, we’ll share a photo or video with a title, a description, and a link to our website. This way, what we’ll achieve is driving the public to visit our website and discover our content and us.

How to use Instagram and Pinterest for a Solid Content Strategy

Every few months, I write a comparison between Instagram and Pinterest. I always have extra things to add. I never hold back.

The main difference is that Instagram content is there, while Pinterest content is a copy of our content, linked to the place where the content lives (ideally our blog).

On Instagram, people follow us primarily because of who we are: they know us, follow our daily lives, admire us, and like our content because it entertains them, teaches them something, connects them with something they like, and so on.

On Pinterest, followers aren’t that important because people on Pinterest don’t care much about who we are.

They care about finding inspiring Pins that can teach them something they can learn or do. Use it in real life. People are already searching for your content; these are some of the searches in Spanish:

“feminine tattoos” (7M searches per month)
“modern Christmas decor” (1M searches per month)
“makeup” (12M searches per month), 11M searches for natural makeup, and 9M for eye makeup.
“healthy food” (1M searches per month)
Our content is too good to live so little. That’s why Pinterest is key: there’s a huge audience ready to discover it.

If you’ve made it this far, I swear you’ve already done the hardest part: realizing that your content deserves a longer life.

Don’t wait until everything is perfect, just start. Your future self will thank you.

And if you need help, you know I’m here.

Warmly, Laurel.
