Pinterest is the best platform for trends! They have so much data that they are even able to predict trends before they are even happening in real life. They launch different reports and predictions during the year, so here is a recap for you to be up-to-date with the Trends and plan your content accordingly.

Pinterest Yearly yet-to-be Trends
Once a year, they launch the “Pinterest Predicts”. These are yet-to-be trends; they can make predictions because Pinterest is ahead of everything, and is the first platform we use when we start planning something. (So yes, if you are a brand, you need to be on Pinterest to engage with your audience in the first stages of their shopping funnel). These trends are the same for every country.
How to Create Your Content Calendar with Pinterest
Every year, the platform shares the Pinterest Content Calendar. Each month has a theme based on the moments:
Calendar moments:
These happen at a specific time of the year. For example, Christmas is a Calendar moment. At the same time, there are five types of moments:
National holidays
- Father’s Day, for example
Religious observances
- Ramadan or Easter would fit this category
Cultural or historical moments
- St Patrick’s Day, Día de los Muertos
Seasonal moments
- Halloween, Carnival
Identity moments
- Mental Health Awareness Month, Pride
Life moments:
They are personal, so they are not tied to the calendar. They can happen anytime during the year, are meaningful, and have an impact, for example:
- Having a baby, birthday parties, moving to a new house, and getting married
Everyday moments
They can happen randomly or seasonally during the year, and sometimes even more than once.
- For example, planning a date night or a couple’s getaway can be an evergreen event. Visiting a Pumpkin patch or going apple picking during fall.
This is an excellent way of creating a calendar for the year. Pinterest is all about planning; pinners are planners, and so are we!
We need to plan because to be ready for the pinners, we need to start pinning way in advance. For example, for Christmas, the searches start in July!
Pinterest Monthly Trends
Once a month, they update the “Trends to try“, these are interesting because they change depending on the country, so I love checking the Monthly Trends for the US (for my clients), the Monthly Trends for Italy (for me), and the Monthly Trends for Argentina (for me and my friends). They are different for each country/region.
The most important thing about these trends is that we can create content following them and submit the pins for a chance to be featured on Pinterest’s editorial content. You can see your content on the Today’s Tab on the Pinterest App and desktop. You don’t earn money but you can get visibility. When these trends were first launched, my clients were featured constantly, and the record we had was 5 million impressions in one single day! Incredible! (These impressions made the engagement rate decrease a lot, and we struggled with visibility after that, but we contacted Pinterest and everything went back to normal after a few days).
Pinterest Weekly Trends
Once a week, Pinterest US shares a deck with the trends of the week. This report is highly valuable because you can be up-to-date with the newest data you can ever have.
I love to share it with my clients, and they find it useful for their content creation process. Sometimes it’s for new content, sometimes it’s to refloat something they have created months or even years ago. We are re-sharing content that is 10 years old. For example, one of my clients has a viral recipe for Brownies, so she is updating the photos to fit the new trends and we are creating pins for it every year. We edit the title, the design, and the description, and the recipe she once came up with is the viral recipe of every year.
You can get this report from the Pinterest Community. Talking about the Pinterest community deserves a whole new post, maybe I’ll do it soon.
Pinterest Predicts
These are predictions that Pinterest makes every year based on Pinterest Insights. The Pinterest Predicts categories will more likely become a reality. The information that Pinterest has is so valuable and real.
