Hi, Pinterest lovers! Today, I’m going to show you just how easy it is to create a Pinterest board.

If you’ve already set up your Business Account (if not, check out my post where I explain how to do it), the next step is to start uploading content—and for that, you first need a board.

What is a Pinterest board?

Pinterest boards are like folders where you can save, collect, and organize your Pins. You should create a new board whenever you want to save Pins related to a new topic.

Let’s say you have a clothing brand—you wouldn’t put Winter and Summer outfits on the same board, right? So in this case, you’d already need at least two boards to start with!

For example, on this board, I saved drawings I’d love to create using pastels. Will I actually make them? Who knows! But dreaming is what Pinterest is for.

How to create a Pinterest board

Step-by-step guide to creating a board from your phone:

  1. Open your Pinterest profile on your phone, tap the plus (+) sign, and select the board icon.
  2. Give your board a title, and that’s it—congrats! You’ve just created your first board.

Note: You can always change the name later, but for now, choose something specific that represents the content you want to save.

Pinterest Board Tips & Tricks

Now, let’s try a little trick:

  1. Open your board and go to the “More Ideas” section.
    • This will help you see if Pinterest understands what your board is about by suggesting ideas that match the topic.
      • If the recommendations align with your board’s theme, great! You can move on to the next steps and add a description later.
      • If Pinterest doesn’t quite get it, I recommend writing a board description that clearly explains what your content is about. Use relevant keywords, but don’t worry—we’ll take care of it later. For now, done is better than perfect. You’ll have time to improve it afterward!
  2. Your board is ready, so start adding Pins! Add at least 5 Pins to begin with. Is there a limit? No! You can create as many Pins as you want. But remember, quality always beats quantity.

Important Note: Make sure your Pins are visually appealing and useful for Pinners. People on Pinterest are looking for ideas to try, buy, or create—they’re not necessarily here for entertainment like on other platforms.
